The primary function of the AC Evaporator is removing heat from the cab area of your truck. It also serves another function: to remove particles such as dust and dirt from the air intake stream. The particles get caught in the condensation that collects on the tube and fin portion of the AC Evaporator. Under normal conditions the debris will simply get washed away. However, under extreme conditions those particles can build up on the AC Evaporator and hinder its performance.
The AC Evaporator needs airflow across the tube and fin surface area to dissipate heat. Be sure to include an inspection and cleaning of your AC Evaporator in your regular maintenance schedule. A little time spent on this type of maintenance will improve your system performance and save you money in the long run. We've included an article on basic AC evaporator inspection tips in the Articles section of our site.
